It's good, but the main offense I got against it is that the enemies do not obey the same rules as the player has to, which is unfair to the player. Why should I have to wait for the platform to fall/open while the enemies can just go through them?
Another bad thing is that the enemies sometimes do not return to their initial locations, which makes parts of the stage impossible to pass. It should be at least possible to lure the bots somewhere, then die and proceed, that would make this game have a bit of puzzle elements, but that would require better stage design.
And one more thing: that dumb rotation definitely doesn't fit this type of a game when you need to act fast and precisely, without fighting the game's mechanics.
Another flaw is that those lights make the game lag.

Kutejnikov responds:

Yes, I agree - enemies can pass through platforms, but without this the game is too easy.
Enemies must always return. You may need to wait a few seconds.

Try to drive the enemy up-left at level 8 (this may require several respawns) - you will get a few extra seconds
In this part I added the alignment mechanic, but sometimes you need to adjust rotation manually(

After Jungle Doom I was hoping you will one day make a big thing like this - and I am not disappointed. However I agree with @qwerty741 and others about the lack of checkpoints since passing through all the previous scenes just to get to the one you are currently focused on makes the game unnecessarily tedious. And when you find all the map fragments you won't be needing the map anyway since you probably already found all the possibilities by this moment.

Tanooki81 responds:

Well, I will think about something to fill this gameplay failure.

Welcome back!
The game looks good, it has a small flaw though: the crosshair does not exactly follow the mouse cursor.

Kwing responds:

Thanks man!

Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do to fix the mouse in Flash the way you can with other programs (Unity, Unreal) At best I could have hidden the mouse completely to keep it from being distracting, but that would create the issue of not knowing when the mouse was about to go off the edge of the screen, which is arguably a bigger issue since you lose control of the camera completely when this happens.

If using the mouse bothers you, you can use the arrow keys or Q/E to rotate the camera, and spacebar to shoot.

I already got some suggestions regarding the cursor:
1. The player should see where the mouse cursor is, because you can easily move it out of the game area or
2. The cursor should be "locked" inside the game screen or
3. A solution in the middle: when the cursor leaves the screen, pause the game and when it comes back put in an optional timer that will count from 3 to 1 before activating the game again.
Oh, when I saw the title of the game I expected something like Utopian Mining or Mineral Rush ;-)

larrynachos responds:

I removed the mouse when it's in the play area because my mom suggested it, I guess I'll just restore it.

1. Scores are not submitting properly;
2. Some description of the seeds would be useful.
3. The bugs are way too fast/too strong at the very beginning. They can kill your flower before you can even build any defense against them.

PS

Managed the beginning, but wave 10 just humiliated my defenses.

Oscura responds:

1. I fixed the bug preventing scores being uploaded and apologise
2. I have written all the abilities down of plants as well as a small guide

By using a combination of basic plants and slowing plants you can slow down and boost your defences.

Thanks for playing and I apologise again for their being so many problems and plan on including a full in-game tutorial in my next project :)

Looks interesting. Some description of the skills available would be useful. Oh - I can barely see the mouse cursor while playing.

X5Z5 responds:

Check out the upgrades page, if you scroll over the faces on that page you will get descriptions.

I'll probably fix the cursor issue by adding in to the settings a way to return to having the default cursor at all times.

Thanks for leaving a review!

Medals ARE working and it IS Ruffle's fault. I disabled it in my account settings, staying with the bare Flash and the medals started to unlock just fine. Also: @TomFulp - you may want to look into this.

Little-Rena responds:

Medals are behaving a little odd in Ruffle but they are now working! There was a separate issue with medals as well earlier.

Overall an interesting game. I would only have few remarks for now though:
1. The 100 coins medal popped up not after finishing the game when I actually collected the 100th one, but after the next game; Also for the shopper medal I had to play one game to make it unlock on Newgrounds;
2. The punctuation is a bit... crazy I would say. For example in some cases using "and" after a comma isn't justified;
3. The orthography is a bit inconsistent when it comes to beginning a new line with a capital letter, for example after a comma;
4. It would be good if the letters would be even a bit smaller, but a line of text in the game would actually be a line of an original text;
5. I agree with @FreSch that a line should end by pressing the "enter" key and not by pressing "space", this isn't how you really type a text;
6. I wish I could turn off the currently playing track titles popping up, it is a bit distracting.

EAtkin responds:

Thanks for the comments, I'm working on an update right now so I'll get that stuff fixed and maybe some additional options for font size etc

I'll be updating this review with more thoughts, but some things were made better in the first version. I have to say that I am not praising this game like most of the people. Few things so far:
1. Not being able to stay in the full screen mode if you want to pause the game and restart it. Pressing escape makes also exits full screen mode.
2. About multiplayer and alternate controls scheme: using right-click for anything has to be changed, because right-clicking in Firefox disables the keyboard. The game should be fully functional for all browsers.
3. The description of the NG medals should include all the requirements that have to be met. Hovering over all of the ? boxes in the in-game medals section just to find a certain medal is a bit annoying. At least it would be better if the medal icons were grayed out until unlocked.
4. As for some medal requirements: a bonus round is a bonus round, so it should not count.
5. Changing the normal upgrades system into a system based on purchasable cheats is a bad thing. And having to purchase the handicaps is a bad thing as well. Having a traditional upgrades system makes it possible to create levels with much more variety of fair difficulty.
6. I admit I am not necessarily a fan of bullet hell games because of one thing: after some time of playing and heavy focusing on the screen it always makes the eyes unnecessarily tired, especially when you have to dodge tons of flashing bullets. It's simply unhealthy.
7. On the other hand, positive this time: a pacifist mode is an interesting thing to try, it actually helps you understand the patterns much better than playing a level in a traditional way.

A PS to your concern:
As you probably know on Newgrounds flash games are not going to die thanks to lots of effort made by PsychoGoldfish and TomFulp. Besides, there are still many ways to keep playing flash games anyway. I wouldn't be so sure about the sponsor of your games Kongregate though since they are "re-profiling" and flash games actually can be dropped by them.

matt-likes-swords responds:

Some of this feedback comes a bit late as Flash games are about to stop working in browsers... I've heard tomorrow is literally the last day.

Nice game! There only should be a way to skip the tutorial, especially if you choose to "try again".

TwoPigs responds:

Thank you - glad you enjoyed it! That makes perfect sense, will put it on the to-do list :D!
