Awesome idea and lots of great humor! I will definitely replay it to check out the upgrade icons I missed. By the way, that elevator music was a remix of "Girl from Ipanema" or was I hallucinating? Oh, I noticed one of the tags: how can it be possible to make a 1-bit game? XD

Ok, great idea, but... such a big game and no saving? Unforgivable. Besides, after some time of playing it just got disconnected from NG. I should be awarded for 2 more things: digging 100 km and having 100 plants. With this problem I doubt if anybody will earn the final medals.

As for the gameplay: there is too much running around. There should be some setting for a general control, like for example if plants are at age x to y then they are focusing on z, later evolving or spreading etc. I just can't think of a situation where I would have to manage hundreds of plants/bunnies/humans the way it looks like now.

And one more thing: when plants/sprouts/bunnies are too close to each other it is impossible to examine each one of them.

PS

As for saving: what is the "shape" of the generated world? Is it considered by the game as "unlimited"? You could make it so the world would look like a sphere for the player - if you would go to the left far enough digging you would finally end up where you started. But that would be just a visual effect, because in fact the game world could be actually a square with "teleports" on the borders. And if we got a square then the game could remember the x,y values, remember where a plant or a bunny was located. Though I agree that saving the status of the plants would be more problematic.

jacklehamster responds:

Thanks for the feedback. Save is difficult to add to this game, but I'll try to incorporate that in future versions. Note you can save AI now.

Generally a good game. One question though, about the behavior of the cube: why lots of times the cube keeps moving despite I am not pressing one directional key at all or I am already pressing another one?

PS

Seeing NeonSpider's review I came up with this theory: for me the game worked quite well, maybe only a bit slow sometimes, but not to the point of a massive lag. Every level is playable. But indeed the game is slowing down at some points and it may happen that it is reading the keyboard input with a delay-or rather the results of the keys pressed are displayed with a delay, so the cube is moving not because of the key you are currently pressing but because of the key you were pressing parts of a second earlier. This made some levels a bit more difficult, because you actually had to predict the movement of the cube.

MrNannings responds:

Thanks. I don't know why that happens.

Every time after I kill 3-5 enemies the game freezes.

PS

This time it worked, but it seems that one of the medals does not like me or I am missing something. I killed all the enemies.

The problem with freezing occurs on Firefox, after I reloaded the game again the freeze returned.

wildanimal86 responds:

hi i see reload and try again please :)
what your browser? chrome?
im using chrome...

2 complains:
1. The screen is too big;
2. The medal is not working.

This game sucks:
1. No saving;
2. Horrible lag;
3. Controls are terribly glitched;
4. As mentioned: there are lots of moments when you cannot return to fire ability;
5. Eventually the game just froze and even caused the browser to stop working.
And the author did not bother to fix anything.

Dragging those boxes is a pain. They get stuck on invisible walls and failing to be placed on the spots. For some dumb reason you sometimes cannot move them at all upwards or to the right.

I agree that the idea is interesting, but... the whole randomness discourages from playing the game further. I am also 100% sure that nobody will ever get the last medal, it is just impossible. Also one crucial thing: having in mind how long it has to take to finish the whole game PROGRESS SAVING is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. It is also related to the medal issues people may experience: the game will simply disconnect from NG after such a long gameplay and the medals will not be awarded.

Mondauthor responds:

I got CoAx Lives!, so it is possible...just challenging. It takes great skill.

Not sure what you mean by 'randomness'. The amount of bounce off of the geometry is fixed. The direction of gravity in each level is fixed. The speed a level rotates is fixed. Box2D works consistently across all computers. All that consistency is necessary or the player could not increase their skill.

Thanks for commenting. Progress saving is probably a good idea.

Mid-air control is just idiotic, just like the mechanics of falling down the platforms.

Very interesting idea. The only problem with the classic mode is that in fact you cannot die on anything. I can just go through all the obstacles not being hit at all.

PS

This had to be a one-time bug, because when I reloaded the game the hit boxes started to work in a normal way, but apparently there is something that can cause it to happen.

Anyway once you get the hang of what you are suppose to do the game becomes quite easy to master.

How? This is not possible ...
